Questions & answers.
The practical details about creating, publishing and looking after your product passports.
What is a digital product passport?
A digital product passport brings information about a physical product together on a web page. With DPP Ready, you choose which materials, origin, care, repair and other details to share. A QR code connects the product to that page.
Do my customers need the app?
No. Customers scan the QR code with their phone camera or open the passport link. The page opens in their browser, with no account or app installation.
What is included for free?
Your first published passport per workspace is free, with no payment details, expiry or automatic subscription. You can prepare drafts and update that same passport for free. Publishing another passport requires a paid plan. Archiving or unpublishing does not reset the free allowance.
What counts as one passport?
A passport can cover a product model, a production batch or an individual item. Each is its own record and counts separately. Paid allowances count non-archived records, including drafts. Drafts do not consume the free first-publication allowance.
Can I keep supplier information private?
Yes. You can choose public, internal or hidden visibility for information and documents. Supplier details default to internal. Review the actual values and customer preview before publishing.
Can I update information after printing the QR code?
Yes. Changes are saved as a draft first. Review and publish your updates to change the customer page behind the existing QR code. Previous published versions remain in the passport history.
Does it support GS1 Digital Link?
Yes. You can use an assigned GTIN to create a GS1 Digital Link QR code that resolves to the passport. Batch passports add their batch number and individual-item passports add their serial number. DPP Ready validates supported identifier syntax; it does not issue GTINs, verify their ownership or provide a GS1-certified full resolver.
Which languages can customers choose?
English, Dutch, German and French. You can author translations of supported product text yourself. Missing translations use the original text. Document contents and some legal identity details stay in their original language; translations are not generated automatically.
Can I import my spreadsheet?
Yes. CSV import lets you map and preview core catalog fields, then create up to 100 new drafts per import. It does not update existing products or import images, documents and complete regulatory records. Workspace exports provide broader product data portability.
What happens if I cancel a paid plan?
Existing published pages and QR links remain hosted at no extra charge while DPP Ready operates the service. Your original free passport remains available for updates; publishing or updating additional passports requires an eligible paid plan. Unpublishing removes public access, and deleting the owning workspace removes its passports.
Does publishing certify legal compliance?
No. Category guidance and regulatory records help you organise product information and supporting evidence. You remain responsible for your declarations and applicable requirements. Publication checks and completeness are not legal compliance certification.
