Building the passport page takes minutes. Collecting reliable information takes longer, because much of it sits with suppliers. This checklist covers what to gather for a first passport, and what you can safely leave out or keep internal.

1. Product identity

  • product name, brand and a short description;
  • the scope of the passport and, for batches or items, the batch or serial number;
  • a GTIN if you have one, for a GS1 Digital Link QR code;
  • a clear product photo.

2. Materials and composition

List the main materials with their share of the product, for example “80% organic cotton, 20% recycled polyester”. Note recycled content and any substances of concern. Ask suppliers for material declarations rather than relying on product sheets.

If you do not know a value yet, leave it empty. An honest gap is better than a guess.

3. Manufacturing and origin

Record where the product was made and, if you know them, the main production steps and their countries. Supplier names and addresses are useful for your own traceability, but you do not have to publish them. DPP Ready keeps supplier details internal by default.

4. Care, repair and end of life

  • care and use instructions, as on the label but with room to explain;
  • how to get the product repaired, and whether spare parts are available;
  • how to dispose of or recycle it, and any take-back scheme you offer.

5. Supporting documents

Collect declarations of conformity, test reports and certificates that back up what the passport says. For each document, decide whether customers should see it or whether it is for internal and authority use only.

Only add certificates and claims you can support. Optional fields can stay empty, and DPP Ready’s publication check does not require them.

6. Languages

Customers can read DPP Ready passports in English, Dutch, German and French. Write the original text in the language you know best, then add translations for the markets you sell in. Missing translations fall back to the original text; nothing is translated automatically.

Many products? Start with a spreadsheet

If your product data already lives in a spreadsheet, CSV import can create up to 100 drafts at once from the core catalog fields. You then add images, documents and regulatory records per passport. Read more on how it works.
